The Indian Plastics Institute – Mumbai Chapter (IPI) and The All India Plastics Manufacturing Association(AIPMA) organised a special seminar on the impact of GST on the Indian Plastics Industry.
The event was held on June 24, 2017 at the Sahara Star Hotel , Mumbai.
Shri Umang Shah, Chairman, IPI, Mumbai Chapter and Shri Harshad Desai, Chairman, Seminar Committee, AIPMA welcomed the guests and invited Shri Manoj R Shah, Convener and Master of Ceremony of the event to take the event forward

The distinguished guests on the dias were joined by Shri Jayaraj Sheth, Advocate, TLC Legal. Shri Jayaraj made an interesting presentation “Countdown to GST”
He briefed about Current Taxes Vs. GST, unique feature of the GST, effect on Plastic Industry and current taxes to be creditable in GST etc.
Dr. Mangesh Gondavale, Chief Guest and Dy. Commissioner of Sales Tax, Maharashtra State, shared his wisdom with the participants and spoke about the “Awareness Campaign & GST UPDATE” and its Problems and Solutions.
Shri Shrikant Shaligram, Dy. Commissioner of VAT, Mumbai made a lively and impressive presentation on “Transitional Provisions” explaining the Migration to GST, Composition and Carry Forward details etc. and how to meet these challenges.
This was followed by a Q & A Session, where members of the industry got a chance to address their concerns, questions and understand the impact of GST on Indian Plastics.
This was yet another initiative by Plastindia Foundation to raise awareness amongst the industry towards the impact of GST and its regulations, thus helping them understand the economic impact it would have on Indian Plastics .
