Greetings from Plastindia Foundation!
This message comes at a time when activities at Plastindia Foundation are becoming hectic. That PLASTINDIA 2009 is around the corner is ofcourse one of the reasons. But, I feel this time that the activities have relevance more and beyond the triennial exhibition and conference of Plastindia Foundation.
At the outset, it is with great pleasure that I share with you friends that online booking for PLASTINDIA 2009 has been a sellout. On paper we have bookings for the whole space available with us. The impetus and the encouragement this has provided are heartwarming. The decision to go on line by the present Managing Committee has proven to be a step in the right direction.
If you look at things like how people think about the Internet, over the last couple of years it's dramatically different. It's really become the mainstream of how people think and that has some implications that are profound. We will now be using the medium much more for all further activities like Exhibition Directory & CD Advertising, Exhibitors Manual, Visitor Registration, Website Space Advertising, Spot & Site Advertising Opportunities, Conference & Summit Registrations, etc.
Friends, I would also like to inform you that we are trying to procure additional space from ITPO at the Pragati Maidan Grounds for PLASTINDIA 2009. This is mainly to encourage SMEs of the Industry to participate in bigger numbers at the mega event and avail of the benefits of the international platform as also to house the new initiatives at PLASTINDIA 2009, viz: The End User Pavilion & The Energy Saver Pavilion.
Since the formal launch of PLASTINDIA 2009 at Mumbai, similar launches followed at Ahmedabad, Kolkata, New Delhi & Chennai. I am grateful to the organizers of the launches who have done tremendous work in ensuring the success of each launch.
All the members of various Committees of Plastindia Foundation, under the advice and guidance of the NAB and NEC Chairmen are busy planning for the various events of PLASTINDIA 2009 and those that will be concurrently held with it.
Plastindia Foundation's vision has been to promote Indian Plastics Industry across the globe and create a positive image for the Indian Plastics Industry so as to facilitate “Exports Led Growth”. Shri Mahendra Patel, Chairman, NEC and the office bearers at Plastindia Foundation have set upon the task of promoting the mega event at every possible venue and occasion across India and abroad. These activities have a mention in this issue.
In this context, PLASTINDIA 2009 is a huge opportunity for SMEs of the Industry. It is the 3rd largest Plastics Exhibition in the world. They need to grab this prospect and avail of all its offerings and grow in both size and scale. We hope they seize the opportunity of this decade to market their products and services to national & international buyers and benefit out of this six day mega event, which is managed by their own colleagues of the industry, on a honorary basis.
Interaction meets with the seven Founder Members and many Associate members have been a revelation of sorts. Valuable suggestions for various activities that Plastindia Foundation should initiate came to the fore. I am sure that soon we will have many of those suggestions translated to viable actions that will be beneficial to the Industry, both in short and long term perspectives.
Friends, I am very pleased to inform you that there will be two summits organized concurrently with PLASTINDIA 2009. The “India-China Summit” to be held on February 3rd 2009, is being jointly organized by Plastindia Foundation with CPPI, China. This will be a reciprocation to the first “China-India Summit” we had initiated during the last year. It has been a great accomplishment that Plastindia Foundation has found a good ally in Society of Plastics Industry (SPI) USA, the apex body of international repute. Plastindia Foundation along with SPI, is organizing for the first time, an “India-US Summit” on February 5th 2009. I am sure you will all utilize these forums to foster better business opportunities between the countries. And, in addition to the conferences that are an integeral part of Plastindia Exhibitions, during Plastindia 2009, the 1st Asian Plastic Waste Management & Recycling Conference, in association with Asian Plastic Forum (APF), will also be held.
And lastly, back to PLASTINDIA 2009. The goal here is to make the experience rich - both for the exhibitors and the visitors. India is affluent because of its people, so it ever was, so it ever will be. Now, as we move from individual excellence to collective progress, the challenge before us is the same. To better what we achieved during PLASTINDIA 2006. I am confident that the Indian Plastics Industry will accept this challenge and in the process forge a close and constructive partnership with Global Plastics Industries who will be present in greater numbers at the mega event.
The world is shrinking due to digital progress. And, if you are not in yet at PLASTINDIA 2009, it's high time you log on!
Until we meet again soon …
Thanks & Regards,
Arvind Mehta
